Electro-optics & Remote Sensing

The development of electro-optics and remote sensing technologies aims to provide images of the territory for the monitoring, tracking, and profile comparison before-and-after of natural disasters, specifically targeting on the imaging of lands and its vegetation coverage, and the monitoring and tracking of typhoon and earthquake, both real-time and afterward. The monitoring on agriculture growth status, distribution of various species, water pollution, air pollution and alien species invasion are also the critical missions. These monitoring are executed by either airplane or satellite.

In order to comply with our missions, ITRC has developed remote sensing imagining process; image capture, reconstruction image from separated collection, 3-D image construction, and differentiated spectral analysis. All the instruments used can adapt to diverse harsh environmental conditions, such as severe vibration, extreme temperature gradient variation, extreme dew point variation in the air, high ratio of strength to the material weight requirement, long distance and precision picture taking, long term fixture and material property stability, and so on. These situations were anticipated during the initial stage of instrument designing. Each instrument designed is incorporated by optics, mechanics, electronics, software and firmware, material selection and manufacturing disciplines. In addition to the remote sensing instrument construction, ITRC has accumulated long term knowledge on the absorption spectrum on vegetation, fruits, materials, and textile colors in the visible and near infrared wavelengths. This knowledge is of great economic value for its application on non-destructive examinations on the fruits quality, vegetation growth status and medicine quality management. An apparatus to detect nondestructively sugar contents in fruits can be constructed.
